There is so much you can do with herbs to enjoy their culinary offerings and nutritional benefits. Whether cooked or eaten raw, herbs provide the ‘cherry on top’ of extra flavours and zing to any snack, meal or condiment.
We love that you can grow potted herbs in the kitchen and use them at the same time! Potted herbs are perfect in or close by the kitchen, releasing amazing aromas and detoxifying the air. You can watch them grow and pick them as you need them, direct from your own little farm to plate...grown with love! A great way to get kids involved and as a way to learn about food. If you don’t fancy yourself as a green thumb, pre-packaged herbs are also available in air-tight packs to maximise preservation. Below are some tips for growing, storing and using fresh culinary herbs:
Ensure the herb pot is kept in a soup bowl or similar sitting in 2cm water
Locate the potted herb on the kitchen bench in a well lit area
Make sure cut herbs are stored in air-tight containers in the fridge
Herbs can be used in a variety of ways. You can eat them fresh, dry them, freeze them, rip them, chop them, cut them, crush them, blend them, cook them, and infuse them.
We use herbs in breakfasts, lunch and dinner recipes as well as snacks, smoothies, desserts, drinks, condiments and simple decorations to create the perfect garnished presentation! Click below for our Healthy Ideas and Favourite Recipe pages for some great ideas.
